Renton Restaurant gossip

The All City Diner will not be re-opening. In the same building will be a place called "Touchdowns".
Doesn't strike me that people go to a place with that name for the food.

Aloha BBQ has a new phone number. It is 425-721-4451.

Activity is going on in the space that formerly housed Armando's before they moved around the corner, but I don't know what's going in there. If anybody reading this does know, please fill us in.

An Announcement:

In behalf of the family of Aloha BBQ, I would like to express my thanks to all of our customers for continuing to stop to checked-out if the restaurant is open.

We was closed since Nov. 5 (Sunday), due to an emergency in the family. Hopefully, its not going to be long.

I have been meaning for the longest time to express our profound thanks to Freakazoid Freddy and Diane, for the favorable and very positive comments he made on Aloha BBQ. It is our goal to serve tasty, fair-priced but quality food, and we strive to be better everyday while bringing diverse recipes.

Our thanks to you, Ira, and to all of you our dear customenrs for your continued patronage.

To all Aloha BBQ patrons:

Due to a family crises these past couple of weeks, we have been closed for business, and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

I would personally wish to extend my earnest gratitude to our loyal friends and customers who have left up-building messages of concern and greetings in our time of distress. Your support has been an encouragement to our family.

Hopefully, we will be able to maintain our regular schedule commencing Friday, November 17th and look forward to serving you in a more efficient manner.

I would also like to mention that we will be adding on a new item to our menu: Southern-style bbq pork spareribs and pulled pork (sandwich or dinner) in a southern based tomato-mustard bbq sauce, served with fried corn-on-the-cob or fried okra and corn bread; and if this suits your palate, we may add this on as a regular. We will also start serving our homemade sweetened iced-tea.

All your comments, ideas, likes and dislikes about our menu items and/or service is greatly appreciated in order for us to serve you better!

Ira, Diane and Debbie, much Aloha & Mahalo for your kind words and thoughts!!!

The restaurant in the old Armondo's site will be a soul food restaurant called Spiffy's Bar & Grill. They expect to open before the beginning of the year...but it might be after.

Have you tried Naan-N-Curry? It's a great Indian place at 709 S. 3rd St that actually made it in Pacific Mag's 50 finds for food lovers. What about Fin N Bone - another new restaurant on Main (enter across from Armonodo's)

I work in Downtown Renton and would love to share more great finds if you're interested. Jdavishayes@ci.renton.wa.us

1. I'm thrilled that Aloha will re-open soon, and I'm a huge fan of Southern BBQ ribs and pulled pork!
Aloha has been a great restaurant, and I've eaten much larger quantities of food there than any human being ought to, because the food there is so good.
2. I like Naan n' Curry a lot, it has been reviewed here, maybe in July or August.
3. I've tried Fin and Bone a couple of times. Didn't thrill me. I'm sure I'll give it another shot, but at this point the Melrose does it for me more that Fin N' Bone.

Just realized I typed the wrong name for the new soul food restaurant...it's Stiffy's not Spiffy's. Oops!

Stiffy's Bar & Grill is beautiful inside, unfortunately they will not be open much longer due to bad ownership "Vernetta" and unpaid staff. Its sad to see such a beautiful place go to waste on bad management.

Cedar River Barbeque has great ribs and their beans are the greatest. The atmosphere is a bit rustic, but the BBQ is worth it.
