The Worst Restaurant in Renton?

I'm looking for suggestions here. where have you had a really godawful meal in or near Renton?
Been ignored for what seemed like hours? Had the food served cold, raw or burnt? Felt like you were in danger? Paid an awful lot of money for something really bad?
This is not limited to inexpensive places. Sometimes expensive fancy places can be downright horrible.
My current candidate is Mimosa's, formerly Lermonds, on Airport Way. It's not bad for breakfast. They have decent omelettes and standard pancakes, but for dinner?
What if you want them to substitute for the potato? "Do you have any green vegetable?"
Corn and peas, both out of a can. Torn seats.
The place is inexpensive, which is it's saving grace, but for dinner it makes Denny's look like Ray's Boathouse. Hell, it makes Tommy's look like a gourmet joint.
Can you top it?

Totally agree with you about Mimosas. It has an awful combination of service/decor/food. Another one to suggest: I haven't been there in a few years (because it was so bad), but my wife and I had a couple of bad meals/experiences with Giant's Causeway. I love Irish food, but this was greasy, cold, and badly prepared Irish food. The service was pathetic and slow, and the waitstaff has a bit of any attitude (maybe that comes from working in what is essentially a big meat-market bar). Like I said, this is not a recent review, so things may have improved.

Third on Mimosa! I like little mom and pop places, and every year I give Mimosa "another chance." Every time, I've had to wander across the parking lot to Minklers and get somthing to wash down the bad food after eating there.

Hopefully... with Mimosa's new Vietnamese menu things will get better, but a bottle of bleach and a gallon of Pine-Sol would also help.

Does that mean we drink the bleach and pine-sol? We ate breakfast at Mimosa's on St. Patrick's Day (we're new here--we don't know any better!) and actually it was totally empty (bad sign I guess, but fairly late in the day) so service was speedy and the woman who waited on us (a redhead) was very sweet. She was also extremely sweet with a couple who sat near us, obviously regulars, older and the man with a walker and pretty deaf. Anyway...I will say that I asked if they were renovating (because the door to the bathroom was half-painted and paint cans were sitting there!) and the waitress sort of laughed and said, "Oh, you know...it takes awhile." Hmm! Looks like it used to be a really cool place, based on the old news articles on the walls.

By the way, we were trying to find All-City Diner--does it still exist?

All City Diner no longer exists; it is now Touchdowns Bar and Grill.

Plum Delicious - I decided to check this place out shortly after they were voted "Best Breakfast" by the readers of the Renton Reporter. I figured it couldn't be bad.

I was wrong.

The place was packed - but I have no idea why. The decor does nothing to help Renton's image. My friends and I all ordered different breakfast things ranging from oatmeal, eggs, to pancakes - nothing was good. Everything was fine - but covered in lard.

Next time I'll go to Denny's.

Seconded on Plum Delicious. The place was unreasonable busy for such a slightly-below-average experience. Hash browns out of a freezer bag and generic egg dishes that IHOP could outdo, easy. I don't get it. How could they possibly win best anything?

See: a busy, popular place is not necessarily any good, and an empty place isn't necessarily bad.
Plum Delicious I've eaten at a few times, and I wouldn't rate it the worst in Renton, just overpriced and mediocre...pretty bad.
Aloha BBQ is empty sometimes, but one of the best around.
Starbucks is frequently very busy, and I've never understand their popularity.

I think what a lot of people like about Plum Delicous is three things: Decent service, It's really spotlessly clean, and the portions are large.

I didn't like it too much - I don't like the decor or the large portions myself - but I understand why it's so busy.

I'm glad their around - it's just not for me. I'd rather have them than *another* IHOP or chain.

Here's a hidden GEM!!!!!

Search googlg for: Omar al-Khyam Renton.

It's a Lebenese place that's been there for years - it's a hole-in-the wall place. The people are very nice and sweet and the food's great. Try the delightful Lebenese wine if you have the extra money. The house special has a bit of everything and usually enough for a leftover lunch the next day.

Another hidden GEM:

Pizza-Man pizza - don't show up, get delivery. Better than Pallagachi (sic) and Garlic Jim. High quality toppings

Search Google for: Pizza-Man Renton.

i wouldn't say Plum Delicious is the worst restaurant in Renton, I've been there and it was OK. I always support mom and pop places and it's kinda nice to have a place like that around... I'd have to vote for Pan-Asian Buffet (close to the Holiday Inn). The decor is soooo terrible just god-awful bright neon pink decor that doesn't make any sense. the food sucks too. I don't know, its a buffet place so I can't really ask for much.

I was severely disappointed by a meal at Naan n' Curry. I greatly desired quality Indian food, but I should have bolted when I saw the only people that worked there were white people. The food was awful and the service was terrible, too.

i had lunch at naan n curry once and the food was terrible! i should have gone to pabla instead

I'd forgotten about the Pan Asian Buffet. Yeah, they're right up there in the "Worst of Renton" category.
Even King Buffet off of 7th and Hardy is much better.

I think the Royal Orchid Thai restaurant is pretty bad. The decor is decent and who doesn't love the shiny dragons out front? However, the food simply isn't flavorful and seems to be prepared with lower quality ingredients. I actually think Best Pho & Thai (near WalMart) has much better Vietnamese and Thai food, though the atmosphere is lacking.

I would have to say the worst food I have been served was at the Mucho Bueno" on N 3rd.
I ordered a spinach enchelada and it had sand in it (because they forgot to wash the leaves). When I told the waiter, I was told that it should be fine and "don't worry". ACK!

I have lived in Renton my whole life.
- All City Diner once served pie with mold on it.
- Mucho Bueno once served "nachos" that were literally limp like lettuce.

Considering All Chity Diner is out I think the award would have to go to Mucho Bueno. The paint job stinks just as bad.

They were SO good too before 2005-ish when the owners sold and moved to Florida.

Apogee Restaurant in Fairwood is absolutely terrible according to my youngest son - who liked Royal Orchid and Naan 'n Curry (who is owned by a Pakistani gentleman and his white business partner; the cooks are Pakistani. Because of one of the owners being from Pakistan, the food is halal, so there are Somalis and Indonesians who come for that fact. I personally think their food is good; it is fresh. However, I am a wimp and it is always too hot, no matter how many stars I ask or do not ask for.). He only went once two years ago, but his food was not only burnt (and really burnt as a little burnt is sometimes desirable) and it was otherwise flavorless. He said he'd never eaten anything so terrible in his entire life. (But he'd never been to Mimosa's or All City Diner.)

just a quick comment-- I use to eat at Royal Orchid all the time--a decade ago. The last time I was there, after many years, there were actual roaches crawling on the wall. Really.

I will never eat there again. I like their menu and food, but if a place is dirty enough to house roaches, you don't want to eat there.

Also, Mimosa or "tri-qu-whatever" is not a clean place and they have been shut down by the health department numerous times. Best to go to Minkler's and get something nice to cook at home!!
